The show is based on Fire & Blood, a fictional history book by George R.R. Martin that is not written or structured like a typical novel. In order to cover all the relevant events, House of the Dragon Season 1 employed sporadic time-skips that were not universally popular among fans. However, now that the timeline is stabilizing in Season 2, we can start to expand the roster. Eve Best will play dragonrider Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, the wife of Toussaint's Lord Corlys Velaryon. She is defined as "The Queen Who Never Was" because she was "passed over as heir to the throne at the Great Council" because "the realm favored her cousin, Viserys, simply for being male."

Gavin Spokes plays Lord Lyonel Strong
Emily Carey is set to star opposite Alcock in a recurring role as Alicent Hightower, per THR. Fabien Frankel has been cast as Ser Criston Cole, a character of Dornish descent. McTavish is best known for playing warrior Dougal MacKenzie in the another beloved fantasy adaptation, STARZ's Outlander.
Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria
A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019), it is the second television series in the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik served as the showrunners for the first season. Featuring an ensemble cast, the show portrays the events leading up to the beginning of the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the "Dance of the Dragons". House of the Dragon Season 2 is a spin-off series in the popular Game of Thrones franchise, created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal. Serving as a prequel to the 2011 show, House of The Dragon draws inspiration from Martin’s 2018 book named Fire & Blood.
Nicholas Jones plays Lord Bartimos Celtigar
Lord Corlys Velaryon, the richest man in Westeros who serves as the Master of Ships on King Viserys' small council, earned the nickname of the Sea Snake for his adventuring past that reportedly may be explored in a future spin-off. During House of the Dragon, Rhaenys and Corlys propose their young daughter Laena marry Viserys, however, the King instead opted for Alicent Hightower. The conflict of Alicent and Aegon going against Rhaenyra for the Iron Throne will continue to be central to House of the Dragon in Season 2 as the Dance of the Dragon and a civil war gets underway. The couple had three children, Aegon, Aemond, and Helaena, but none were named heir to the Iron Throne, with Rhaenyra holding that honor.

House Strong
He does have to deal with the rumors of his alleged parentage. House of the Dragon is child actor Hart's first television role, after previously appearing in the short film Hopscotch. Laenor is played by Carver at young age and Nate (seen above) as a teenager. Carver previously appeared on two episodes of Doctor Who in 2020. Nate made his television debut on the BBC series Time, with HotD as his first multi-episode role. Viserys' wife and Rhaenyra's mother Aemma (who deserved so much better) is played by Brooke, a British actress who trained with the National Youth Theatre and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Matthew Needham plays Lord Larys Strong, Queen Alicent's trusted companion.

If there's one thing fans of Martin's writing are excited for, it's this meeting of ice and fire in the flesh. The trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2 showed fan-favorite returning characters in action, but an additional press release from HBO introduced some new faces. We got confirmation on six newly-cast characters this weekend, bringing our total for Season 2 up to 10 brand new Westerosi people. Here's a look at each actor and the character they are playing. Tom Glynn-Carney fills out the cast as Aegon Targaryen, the first-born son of King Viserys, together with Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen, the second-born son of Viserys, nephew to Daemon, and half-brother to Rhaenyra. Phia Saban is also in the mix as Helaena Targaryen, the second-born daughter of Viserys, sister to Aegon and Aemond, and half-sister to Rhaenyra.

Smith also notably played a young Prince Philip in "The Crown," and appeared in "Last Night in Soho" and "Morbius." He also starred in "The World's End," "The Bourne Ultimatum," and period drama "Peaky Blinders." Keep checking back here for more House of the Dragon casting updates. Graham McTavish has a lot of dark fantasy experience, having appeared in The Witcher and Castlevania. In House of the Dragon, he plays Ser Harrold, who "has served in the Kingsguard since the days of King Jaehaerys; he is a paragon of chivalry and honor." Series co-creator Ryan Condal, a co-showrunner on season 1 with Miguel Sapochnik, is now the sole showrunner on season 2.
Following the immense success of season one, its successor is set to drop later this year, with the majority of the cast returning to occupy their roles. Playing Alicent after the time jump is English actor Olivia Cooke, who's best known for playing Emma Decody in the Psycho prequel series Bates Motel. She also starred in the films Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl; Ready Player One; Thoroughbreds; and Sound of Metal. House of the Dragon is the latest of Smith's roles in high-profile TV series. After working as a stage actor, he was catapulted to international fame while playing the Eleventh Doctor in the long-running sci-fi series Doctor Who.
He was the heir to Driftmark, and was also dragonrider, just like his brother. "Luke", as he was known, rode Arrax, though both met their doom at the hands (and teeth) of Aemond and his dragon, Vhagar, in the series finale. Based on George R. R. Martin's book, Fire & Blood, the first season showed us what the Seven Kingdoms were like when dragons (and their masters) ruled the skies. There, we watched as the Targaryen dynasty began to fracture under the weight of King Viserys' decision to name his daughter, Rhaenyra Targaryen, as his sole heir.
Following the time jump, Laenor is still married to Rhaenyra and stays by her side as they welcome their third child (though he's probably not the father to any of their children). He names the baby Joffrey, after his lover who died at their wedding feast. Like Rhaenyra, he has had his own affairs during the marriage, while still being a supportive husband and father. Playing adult Rhaenyra is D'Arcy, a London-born film and stage actor who is nonbinary and uses gender-neutral pronouns. They've previously appeared in the Prime Video action series Hanna, the British comedy/horror Truth Seekers, and the 2020 film Misbehaviour.
